Richard Earl Wright was born on July 25, 1958, to the late Jimmie Lee Wright and Ruthie Lee (Loggins) Wright in Joliet, IL.
Richard accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mars Hill C.O.G.IC., in his younger years. Later in life, Richard rediscovered and accepted Christ in his heart, finding renewed spiritual strength and peace before departing this life on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the age of 65.
Richard graduated in 1976 from Joliet Township High School ‘Central Campus. He was an avid sports fan and had a passion for photography. He later turned this talent into a business and with his best friend, the late Robert Clayton, R & R Photography was established. Although the business was short-lived, the friendship remained intact for many years to come. Richard also, much like his father, had a knack for carpentry. This gift allowed him to transform and revitalize spaces with a skilled touch.
Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jimmie Lee, and Ruthie Lee Wright; paternal grandparents, Fred, and Ethel Wright and maternal grandparents J.V. and Avanelle Loggins; Uncles James (Dorothy) Wright, William (Mary) Wright, and Alvin Loggins, Ulysses (Margaret) Wright, Russell Amos; Aunts: Cora Lee and Trollie (George) Amos; Nephews Deon Loggins and La‘Tray Wright; Special Cousins Richard and Freddie Wright.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory, Three loving and devoted daughters DeKendra (Ben) Walker of Joliet, IL, Leticia Files of Carbondale, IL, and Tamika McClellan of Oswego, IL Grandchildren, Martayviana Wright and Elijah Green of Joliet, IL and Bri Smith of Oswego, IL, and Amiah (Young) Files of Carbondale, IL. Eight siblings, Jimmie Faye (Samuel) Cartwright, Betty Barnes, Doris, Billy, and Anthony Wright of Joliet, IL. Brenda Robinson of Columbia, MO, Willie (Martha) Loggins of Chicago Heights, IL, and Bobby (Patricia) Mack of Davenport, IA. Special nephew, Pastor Sam Mack of Davenport, IA. Dedicated friends Dexter Morris, Jerry Gerry, and Darwin Walker. Along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends both near and far that will carry his legacy on.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20,2023 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL and chapel services beginning at 11:00 A.M. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home to Elmhurst Cemetery, 1212 E. Washington St, Joliet, IL where services will conclude.
A family repass will be held at Sacred Heart, 337, S. Ottawa St, Joliet,IL. where family and friends may gather and share memories or Richard.
