Richard L. Todd, age 81, died on October 9, 2024 at the Renwick Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Joliet, IL. He was born to his parents Marvin Todd and Berneice Todd (nee Drake) in Morris, IL on February 20, 1943.
Richard (or Dick as he was also commonly known) attended Minooka Grade School and graduated from Minooka High School in the Class of 1961. He started his career at E J & E before becoming a machinist for the Caterpillar Company where he worked for thirty-seven years. Dick married the love of his life, Betty St. Ange, on August 29, 1964 and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary together. The couple were blessed with their loving daughter Angela on August 4, 1965. Dick enjoyed bowling, going out to car shows, vacationing with friends, and sharing time with the good people at the Moose #300. He was a longtime member of the Moose #300 as well as the Dale Athletic Club. Beyond those activities, Richard held a few things very close to his heart. He loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle, he loved his family, especially spending time with his granddaughters Amber and Cheyenne, and he loved spending time with so many close friends over the last forty-five years.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Marvin Todd and Berneice (Bill) Dirst, his brother Larry Todd, his stepbrothers Dick and Fred Dirst, mother and father-in law Fred and Martha Mufich, and his brother-in-law Gary Hadaway.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years Betty, his devoted daughter Angie (Bill) King, his great joy; granddaughters Amber and Cheyenne King, his sister Judy Hadaway, step brother Gordon (Gan Hui) Dirst, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and great friends.
The family would like to offer a special note of gratitude to all of the caregivers and staff at the Renwick Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center who were instrumental in his care and comfort over the last six months.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Richard’s name to either the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Children’s would be appreciated.
As would be fitting within the style in which Richard lived his life, the family invites guests to dress in comfortable casual clothing while attending his services.
