Richard W. Stonitsch

Richard “Dick” William Stonitsch, 81, of Minooka, IL passed away Saturday, Christmas morning (December 25, 2021).  He was born in Joliet, IL to Helen (nee Swan) and Arthur Stonitsch.

He is survived by his cherished and devoted wife of 34 years, Mary Lou (Briski) Stonitsch; children, Sheri (Robert Duane) Boyett, William (Judy) Stonitsch, Todd (Rebecca) Stonitsch, Kurt (Kathleen) Stonitsch, Mark Stonitsch, and Mariah Stonitsch; grandchildren, David Boyett, Christy (Gabriel) Carpena, Steven (Janelle) Boyett, Laura Stonitsch, Matthew (Briana) Stonitsch, Allison (Mark) Nelson, Brianna Stonitsch, Evan Stonitsch, Nathan Stonitsch, Alyssa Stonitsch and Leah Stonitsch; great-grandchildren, Brinson Boyett, Jack Boyett, Gabriel Carpena, Logan Carpena and Emma Nelson; siblings, Carol Teeters; Ronald Stonitsch, Pat Riley, and Rita Saxon; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lawrence Stonitsch; and his sister, Diane Stonitsch.

Richard proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961.  Shortly after being honorably discharged from the service, he continued his career by working at Sears, Pure Oil, and the Joliet Arsenal using his natural mechanical abilities.   Then in 1969, Richard and his brother, Lawrence, founded Rovanco Piping Systems that is currently entering in its 53rd year of business.

Richard had a heart for ministry serving others using his mechanical gifts to help people both locally and internationally on missions’ trips.  Together with his wife, he exercised hospitality with others, always opening their home to family, friends, missionaries, and so many more.  He cherished his relationships, always being generous giving of himself through both conversation and quality time.  He had a contagious love for life and laughter with a commendable work ethic.  Above all else, Richard held utmost importance in his faith in God, one that had the greatest influence on his life.

He attended Living Word Bible Church in Morris, IL and previously attended Minooka Bible Church in Minooka, IL, and Homer Congregational Church in Lockport, IL.

Richard was a very hard-working and devoted brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He was extremely proud of his whole family.  He will be truly missed.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Living Word Bible Church in Morris, IL from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately at Abe Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
