Richard William Schmitz

Richard W. Schmitz, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Deborah (nee Bortoli); children, Tyler Schmitz and Taylor Schmitz.

Preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy (nee Kelly) Schmitz; brother, Keith Schmitz; and beloved cat, Tiger.

Richard greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. His biggest hobby was fishing and spending time outdoors. Richard took great pride in fixing fishing reels for many people. This passion led to a small business he was very proud of, fixing reels from all over the United States, making many friends along the way. The fishing trips he went on with his wife and numerous friends were always an adventure and made countless memories that will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. a service will conclude the visitation at 4:00 p.m. Per Richards wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
