Richard L. “Doc” O’Connor age 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2018 with his loving family at his side.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara (nee Galass) O’Connor; children, Timothy (Mary) O’Connor and Kathy (Bob) Hotuyec; grandchildren, Ryan (fiancée Maly Chou), Erik (Sarah Montour) and Kelly (fiancé Marquese Baker) O’Connor, Jenny (Nick) Hill and Matt Hotuyec; great grandchildren, Cooper, Walker and Sullivan Hill and Ethan Chou. Numerous nieces and nephews survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, William and Myrtle (nee Hopps) O’Connor; three brothers and three sisters.
Dick was born in Lockport, IL a life-long resident of Joliet. He was a salesman (fondly known as “Doc”) for Barretts Hardware, Grants Hardware and Menards. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bulls fan. He liked to tinker around in the garage and yard.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Presence Villa Franciscan and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their care, love and support of Dick the past five months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or to the charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Richard’s life will begin on Wednesday, February 28, 2017 with chapel prayers at 10:20 a.m., then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL). Obituary and Tribute Wall for Richard L.
