Age 82, at rest Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.
Survived by his dearly beloved and loving wife of eight and a half years, Joyce (nee Juricic) Korst; loving father of Richard Korst of Sandpoint, ID, Renee (James) Brannen of Richmond, VT, Terrence (Terri) Korst of Joliet and Victorine (Howard) Mahoney of Gardner, IL; dearest grandfather of Matthew Brannen, Joshua, Jacob and Amanda Korst, Michael and Megan Mahoney; five brothers, William (Mary), Eugene (late Sally), James (Hedy), Joseph (Sharon) and Robert (Julie) Korst; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth ""Sam"" (nee Hannell) Korst; parents, William and Marie (neeKeki) Korst.
Richard was born and resided in Joliet. Lifelong barber, owner of Dick's Barber Shop, and retired from Caterpillar. He was a member of St. Genevieve Society KSKJ #108, Slovenian Women's Union, a former member of Joliet Elks, and was an avid Pool Player. He volunteered his barbering services at the Guardian Angel Orphanage and recently was a barber for the Brothers at Lewis University. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy WWII and served in the Korean Conflict. Masses, donations to St. Joseph Restoration Fund or to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 150 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 400, Chicago, IL 60601 would be appreciated.
From where a prayer service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 10:30 AM then to St.
Joseph Church Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM.
Interment will be at St. Joseph
Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 8PM.
