Richard R. Jovanovich

Richard R. Jovanovich, age 91, entered eternal life on Monday, June 1, 2015.

Richard is survived by his loving children, Nancy and Richard M. Jovanovich; dear brother, Rodavon (Darlene) Jovanovich; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his wife, Julia (nee Dulevich); son, David; parents, George and Mary (nee Padley) Jovanovich; brothers, Daniel Sr. (Eva), Alex, and George (Joan) Jovanovich; sister, Danica (Orville) Belfield.

Richard graduated from Joliet Township in the Class of 1943. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1080. He served on the Rockdale School Board and Rockdale Band Parents Association. Richard was a longtime member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, serving as a member of the Executive Board, Building Committee, and Church Choir. He was also an active patron of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Richard was employed as a purchasing agent by Uniroyal Chemical at the Joliet Arsenal and Cardox for many years. Richard was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He will be missed by his family and friends, especially dear friends, Pete and Paul.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church or St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, or Senior Services of Will County would be greatly appreciated.

Richard will lie-in-state on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service to be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Joliet. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435. Pomen service to be held at 7:00 p.m.
