Richard L. Demick Sr

Richard L. Demick Sr., age 79, at rest on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 with his loving family by his side.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Kay (nee Spelich); loving children, Mary Lee (Bob) Strahanoski, Richard Jr. (Debby), and Mark (Jennifer); cherished grandchildren, Bobby and Grace Strahanoski, Gabrielle and Emily Demick, and Erik Demick; dear brother-in-law, Bob Harrison and sister-in-law, Laurie Demick; special aunts, Vera (the late Albert) Voight and Phyllis (the late Max) Yarmolek; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary (nee Yarmolek) Demick; brother, George Demick; and sister, JoAnn Harrison.

Rich was born and raised in Rockdale, IL. He attended Rockdale Grade School and graduated from JTHS. After high school he dedicated four years to serving his country in the US Marine Corps. He retired from Illinois Bell in 1994 after 35 years of employment. Rich was a member of Telephone Pioneers, St. Joseph KSKJ #2, Slovenian Union of America, and St. Joseph Senior Parishioners. He loved traveling with his wife, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid mushroom hunter. Above all things, Rich loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Richard's life will begin on Monday, July 13, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
