Rex L. Wilson, age 64, at rest on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 surrounded by the comfort of his loving family.
Rex is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Carolyn R. (nee Matesevic) Wilson; children, Jaimie Wilson and Nate (Amy) Wilson; grandson, Tyler Rodriguez; two sisters, Lora Short and Linda Meyer; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elsie (nee Taylor) Wilson.
Rex was born in Chetopa, Kansas and was a Diesel Mechanic for all of his life. He retired in 2015 from D Construction. Rex enjoyed going to the races, boating and loved telling jokes to make his family and friends laugh. He was a loving husband, father and a dear friend to many. Throughout his battle, Rex never lost his wit and always stayed strong. He was a pillar in the family and will never be forgotten.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the family and friends who offered prayers and support over the past 9 months as well as the entire staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice for the comfort and care provided to Rex.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rex’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
A celebration of Rex’s life will begin on Friday, June 3, 2016 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3-8 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel concluding the visitation at 7:30 p.m. Celebrant Ken Plese officiating. Per Rex’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
