Raymond I. Plisich
Age 87, died suddenly at home on February 25, 2007. Raymond is survived by Ann Kanta, his companion and caregiver; daughters, Marie (Geo-rge Jr.) MacZura, Nancy Plisich and Patricia (Ch-ris) Barnett; gra-ndchildren, Geo-rge IV and Ray MacZura and Ju-liet and Evan Barnett; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who continued to remember him in his later years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alvera (nee Cassani) whom he comforted through her extensive battle with cancer; his parents, Joseph and Anastasia (nee Stepan) Plisich; brothers, Edward, Joseph and Walter ""Moe"" Plisich; and one sister, Carolyn Ludwig. Raymond was born and educated in Joliet and worked here for most of his life. He was a Procurement Officer in the Army during World War II; the only time he was away from home. Raymond was a member of Teamsters Union working as a meat cutter at Shriners, Mr. K's and Honiotes Brothers Food Market. He was also the first UPS package carrier to be hired for the Joliet distribution center.
