Raymond Joseph Levek
Age 89, at rest Monday February 1, 2010 at his home. Survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Sophie (nee Sparazynski) Levek, loving father of Raymond (Nancy), Virginia, Marilyn (Richard) Sorg, Karen (Raymond) Rogers, dearest grandfather of Kate (Kenan) Brandes, Daniel and Marie Levek, Eric and Adam Sorg, David and Angela Rogers, great grandchildren Quentin, Dominic and Vaughn Brandes, two sisters-in-law Irene and Rose Sparazynski, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his son Joseph in infancy, parents Jacob and Catherine (nee Palace) Levek, two brothers John and Edward Levek. Raymond was a WW II Army Veteran, served in the 93rd Armored Division in the European Theater. Received six battle stars and an arrowhead for the Invasion of Southern France. Also, recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. Retired in 1982 after 45 years of service for Joyce 7up. Member of Holy Cross Church, life member of VFW Cantigny Post # 367, American Legion Post 5, Braidwood Recreational Club, Troy Sportsman Club, Teamsters #179. Also, was a member of the American Legion Junior Baseball in 1936, a life-long White Sox fan and avid fisherman. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Prayer services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10:30 am then will proceed to Holy Cross Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
