Raymond Edward Horvat, age 83, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022 with his loving family by his side.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gladys (nee Hughes); children, Jason Horvat, Michelle (Luis) Magana and Rachel (Rob) Brighton; grandchildren, Casey Cox, Keegan Reilly, Nick and Joseph Magana, Richard, Maxwell, Luke and Jake Brighton; siblings, Robert Horvat and Maryann (Joseph) Pluth; several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Kobe) Horvat; siblings, Josephine Ercegovich, Katherine (Walter) Sargent, Joseph (Eileen) Horvat, Dorothy (Joseph) Lakotich, Delores (Leonard Sr.) Suhadolc, Evelyn (Lou) Mauro, Rose (Lou) Meyers, Lorraine (Ralph) Wedic and Teresa (Nick) Rousonelos.
Ray graduated from Joliet Central High School class of 1954 and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. He retired from Anheuser Busch 20 years ago and during his retirement he enjoyed working for Tezak Funeral Home as well as Wedgewood Golf Course. Ray was a member of the Joliet Moran A.C., KSKJ and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Ray was a family man, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. There was no doubt, Ray’s most valued time was spent with his grandchildren, either fishing, camping, golfing or attending their sporting events. Relaxing on a warm day outside with a good cigar was always recommended. He loved traveling with his family and friends, including trips to Canada, Italy, Mexico, Michigan and the Bahamas where he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond’s name to Morning Star Mission would be appreciated.
A celebration of Raymond’s life will begin on Monday, May 9, 2022 with a visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet.
