Raymond "Ray" Glavan

January 19, 1933 — February 7, 2018

Raymond Glavan, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Ray is survived by his loving children, Paula (Patrick) King, Nancy (Steven) Leins, Thomas (Lori) Glavan, Melanie (Charles) Keltz, and Keith (Nancy) Glavan. Dear grandfather of Jordan and Blake King; Lindsey, Luke and Jacob (Kasey) Leins; Molly, Tyler (Kate) and Cole Glavan; Kara, Max, and Timothy Glavan. Great-grandfather of Fulton Leins. Ray is also survived by his loving special friend and companion, Jeanie Entwistle; sisters-in-law, Patricia Glavan and Rory Novak; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and droves of friends that multiplied through the years.

Preceded in death by his wife Eleanor (nee Novak) Glavan (2007); parents, Joseph and Albina (nee Bradach); brother, Richard; sister, Genevieve (Edward) Gasmovic; brothers-in-law, Raymond and Bernie Novak.

Ray was born and resided in Crest Hill most of his lifetime. He was a graduate of Lockport Township High School and the University of Illinois. Ray was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Ray was a proud and active member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Joliet Rivals Club, Croatian Cultural Club, Senior Citizens Association, and Senior Services of Will County. Ray will always be remembered for his infectious smile, greeting cards with two dollar bills, a flower for anyone that was sick, love of the Minnesota Vikings, shirts with any company’s logo (as long as they were free), and love for his faith, family, and friends.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to all who have provided excellent compassion and care to Ray, especially Dr. R.W. Schubert, Dr. Jason Suh, Dr. John Walsh, and Presence St. Joseph Infusion Clinic.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ray’s name to JOHA Foundation or Honor Flight Chicago would be appreciated.

A celebration of Raymond’s life will begin Monday, February 12, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:20 a.m., then driving in procession to St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
