Ray Charles Thompson, 69, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024. A devoted member of the Brothers of Soul Motorcycle Club, Ray lived life to the fullest, embracing adventure and camaraderie. He dedicated 53 years of his career to working for John Bays, where he was cherished by colleagues and friends alike.
Ray is preceded in death by his father, Dan “Stormy” Thompson, and his mother, Fannie Glover “Teenie” Thompson-Robinson. He is also preceded in death by his beloved grandchildren, Matthew Williams and Laylanee Gordon, and his siblings, John Robinson and Robin Lewis.
Left to honor his memory are his three sons: Montriece (Nakia) Morrow of Danville, IL, Damon (Winnie) Thompson of Petal, MS, and Terrell Hunter of Joliet, IL. He is also survived by four daughters: Tashauna Gordon of Petal, MS, Tamika (David) Reed of Irving, TX, Danica Williams of Joliet, IL, and Lalesha (Shawn) Bailey of Joliet, IL. Additionally, Ray leaves behind 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five living siblings: Linda Thompson Campbell ( Norman)
Bobby N. Thompson ( Gail), Jackie Robinson, Walter A. Thompson, Vickie Robinson Smith (Gerry) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held at Tezak’s Home to Celebrate Life, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, IL 60435, on October 26, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Cremation rights have been accorded.
Ray will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, unwavering loyalty, and the love he shared with those around him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
