In Loving Memory of Mr. Raun Calimee
Sunrise: June 18, 1964 ~ Sunset October 27, 2020
If you ever met Mr. Raun Calimee, he would be hard to forget. But if you got to know him, he is the person we all knew and loved!
Although Raun never married, he was a family man. He valued family above all else. If ever there was a family gathering of any kind, Raun made himself available to help, to advertise, to promote, to invite, and to run errands. You would often see him setting up decorations, tables, chairs and whatever he could do to make it successful for others. Raun accepted Jesus Christ early in life because of the consistency of faith demonstrated both in our homes and throughout our generations. Yes, young lives are impressionable, and they DO MATTER!
We all knew Raun as the “Family Handyman.” He was skilled at fixing, installing, repairing, landscaping, plumbing, and he even excelled at cooking some of his own dishes. He was the type of person who did nothing halfway. If we needed almost anything done, family and friends alike knew to call Raun!
During his early years, Raun also mastered the gun range and became a professional bodyguard for many of the younger famous music performers; he even traveled with them. Yet, out of all of his natural abilities, his life’s highlight was Raun became known as the family historian. He would sit and past down stories about generations gone by to whoever would listen. Raun remembered and recounted more than most of us. While we were all raising families, working jobs and starting businesses he was watching and mentally recording everyone else’s accomplishments. He loved seeing “family, friends, neighbors” happy and successful. these were his bragging rights. What he could not do, he was excited to see others get it done.
Raun was a true and caring humanitarian. He will be missed by so many in the community because he had a good word to say to everybody.
The Family Tree:
Raun was the last of eight children born to J.C. Calimee and Ethelene Durr who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Martin Calimee Sr. (Wanda), and is survived by four brothers and one sister:
