Ralph L. “LeVerne” Nash, age 89, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mae Rose (nee Gregorash); loving children, Dr. Kenneth (the late Robin) Nash, Deborah Smith, William R. Nash, Janice (Dale) Blachford, and Cheryl (Rusty) Schelling; 18 cherished grandchildren; 16 cherished great-grandchildren; dear sisters, Arlene (the late Jim) Hajek, Virginia (the late Clem) Klein, and Sandra (the late Burt) Kirby; dear sisters-in-law, Charlene (the late Clarence) Nash-Hoel and Judy (the late Robert) Homan; brother-in-law, Donald (Joanne) Gregorash; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ralph C. and Viola (nee Rice) Nash; step-mom, Esther Nash; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton and Anna (nee Thomas) Gregorash; brother, Clarence Nash.
Ralph graduated from Plainfield High School in the Class of 1945 and DeVry University in 1949. He served proudly in the United States Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1948, spending 28 months in Frankfort, Germany as a radio communications sergeant at the time of the Airlift after WWII. He went on to marry the love of his life, Mae Rose on September 3, 1949, and formed a family together. They lived in the house that Ralph and his father-in-law, Anton, built together in 1953. He and his wife have and continue to call this house “home” to this very day. He was a member of American Legion Post #13. Ralph worked at Grabavoy Hardware for 13 years and worked as a T.V. serviceman for 28 years, spending a lot of those years employed at Fry T.V. in Lockport. He was an avid gardener and skilled artist, painting scenic landscapes. Ralph loved his family more than anything in the whole world, and gained immense joy from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “We love you Dad, always have and always will.”
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or to a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Ralph’s life will begin on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville with full military honors. Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.
