Phyllis M. Schmidt “Toots” (nee Egdorf), age 95, formerly of Crest Hill, IL at rest on Thursday, January 12, 2017.
Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Kathleen (the late Rick) Close, Karen (Thomas) Pucel, Charles Schmidt; grandchildren, Mark (Michelle) Alstott, Michael (Nicole) Alstott, Jason (Krystal) Barz, Craig (Kate) Barz, Lindsay Gunier; great-grandchildren, Griffin Alstott, Hannah Alstott, Lexi Alstott, Olivia Alstott, Emma Alstott, Bridget Barz and Ava Barz; and brother, Charles (the late Pat) Egdorf; special friend, Goldie Lorenzen; numerous nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Schmidt (1965); parents, Charles and Elma Egdorf; siblings, Gertrude, Eleanor, Lorraine, Richard and Edward (Elva) Egdorf; and son-in-law, Rick Close and Dennis Alstott.
Phyllis was an avid reader; she enjoyed crafting and loved watching sports. She was known for her quick wit, spunk, “pats” on the back, big hugs and handshakes. Phyllis loved her three cats Suzy, Boots and Baby. She will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will begin on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Celebrant Ken Plese officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be held privately at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet.
