Peter Wisniewski, age 93, late of Shorewood, died May 4, 2011 at Provena Villa Franciscan Nursing Home.
Born in Joliet, he retired from the City of Joliet Fire Department after 20 years of service.
He is survived by his daughters Carol (Charles) Delehanty, Constance Kohl, and Gertrude (Richard) McDowell, his grandchildren Chris (Greg) Offerman, Kim (Dwayne) Killian, Richard (Ardean) McDowell, Russell (Beth) McDowell, Robby (Jennifer) McDowell, Rhonda (Brian) Arnold, Danielle Kohl, and Adrita (Andy) Albright, his sisters Eleonore (Robert) Lang of Worth, Il, Helen (late Gilbert) Homeier of Chippewa Falls, WI, and Victoria Nilson of Loveland, CO. He is also survived by special friends Marty and Ellen Pavelek, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Peter was preceded in death by his first wife Genevieve in 1957, his second wife Catherine in 2006, his parents Alexander and Anna, sisters Ann Barney, Julie Starcevich, and Mary Salinas, a brother Edward, and 2 brothers in infancy.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps #619 in the 1930"s, was a member of Joliet Local & Illinois Association of Retired Firefighters, Moose Lodge #300, Elks Lodge #296, Eagles Lodge, Ohio A.C., and was a Life Member of East Side A.C.
Peter enjoyed tournament card playing (euchre, pinochle, and poker) and tournament softball and handball. For 40 years he enjoyed spending Winter months in Mexico or Hawaii. His final request was to have no visitation or services and donate his body to the Anatomical Gift Association for medical research.
