Peter Reitz, age 84, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, with his loving wife by his side.
Peter is survived by his wife of 57 years, Catherine E. (nee Martinez) Reitz; children, Linda (late Joseph) McLaughlin, Margret Martino, Anthony (Susane) Reitz, Deborah Tokich and Theresa (George) Simon; grandchildren, the late Michael, Heather, Rachel, Joy, Nicole, Jeremy, Monica, Angela, Neil, Ruth, Lyn Anthony, Christopher, Andrea and Nicholas; numerous great and great great-grandchildren; sister Edna Mae (late Prentice) Womack; brothers, Fred (Joanne), Kenneth (Melody), Donald (late MaryAnn) and Richard Reitz; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Esther (nee Barker) Reitz.
Peter was born in Baroda, Michigan and lived in the Chicago area for many years.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and retired from Century Engraving, Chicago after over 30 years of service.
Peter enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and was active with the Inwood Terrace Association, where he and Catherine resided.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Peter’s life will begin on Friday, March 23, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:00 a.m. then driving in procession to the Church of St. Jude for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
