Peter P. Chavez

Peter P. Chavez, age 64, passed away suddenly in his home on April 24, 2018 in Joliet, IL.

Peter is survived by his wife, Leticia (nee Toledo) Chavez; children, Karina (Albert) Alvarez, Pedro (Doris) Chavez and Karla (Alan) Chavez; granddaughters, Montzerratt Esparza and Abigail Esparza; mother, Guadalupe Chavez; siblings, Amparo Cuevas, Josefina Diaz, Francisco Chavez, Ignacio Chavez, Reyna Diaz, Guadalupe Chavez, Miguel Angel Chavez and Angela Ochoa.

Preceded in death by his father, Francisco Chavez; brother, Pablo Chavez; father-in-law, Apolonio Toledo and sister-in-law, Argelia Chavez.

Peter was born in Huandacareo, Michoacan Mexico to Francisco and Guadalupe (nee Paredes) Chavez. In 1969, Peter moved to Joliet, IL. He and Leticia were married on December 18, 1975. Peter relocated his family from Chicago to Oxnard, California in 1981 where he resided most of his life. He had a talent and know-how for various trades but he dedicated his life's work as a dental prosthetics technician for dental laboratories.

Peter had an affinity for the ocean and a passion for fishing. He spent the majority of his leisure time at the beach soaking up the sun, breathing in the salty air and catching fish. Peter was socially outgoing. He loved working out and visiting his local sushi restaurant. Peter had a deep love for his family.

A Celebration of Peter’s life will begin on Friday, May 4, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m., then processing to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 205 E. Jackson St., Joliet for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following mass.
