Age 69, at rest Sunday December 28, 2008 at his home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Shirley A. (nee Ketz) Day; loving father of Deborah (Rocky) Koehler and Kris (Jeff) Sargent; dearest grandfather of Rocky, Jr. and Matthew Koehler, Samantha Jo Sargent; five sisters, Norma (late Ray) Rish, Rita (Paul) Stewart, Ann (Jack) Bynum, Wilma (Jim) Lambert and Helen (Bob) Larsen; brother-in-law, Frank Ketz; sister-in-law, Athlean (late Edward) Decker; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by one son, Paul Day, Jr; parents, Allsy; step-mother, Rosie Saltzman and E. Marie (nee Decker) Day Larsen; step-father, Elmer Larsen; one sister, Martha ( Zan )Huling; one brother, Edward Decker. Paul was born in Mazon, IL. Resided in Joliet most of his lifetime. He retired from T.J. Lambrecht after 20 years of service, was a Teamster out of local #179 from 1965 to 2004, was a low boy driver who specialized in hauling heavy equipment, at Paul's request cremation rites were accorded.
Private memorial services were held at St. Mary Nativity Church, Interment St. Mary Cemetery.
