In loving memory of Paul G. Arteaga Sr., a man whose life was a testament to simplicity and kindness. Paul peacefully passed away on June 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Born June 22, 1945, Paul's journey on this earth was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and his country. A United States Air Force Veteran, Paul served with honor from 1963 to 1967, embodying the values of service and sacrifice throughout his life.
Described as a simple man with a big heart, Paul's presence brought warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His gentle nature and genuine kindness touched the lives of many.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Victoria (nee Perez) Arteaga; his children, Raquel M. Arteaga and Paul G. Arteaga Jr.; and his granddaughters to whom he was known as Papa, Abigail Victoria Arteaga and Audrina Rose Arteaga.
Paul's presence extended beyond his immediate family to include an extended network of loved ones who were touched by his caring spirit. He was a cherished brother-in-law to Betty (Louie) Ruiz, Bob (Mary) Gomez, Dolly Perez, Angel Morales, Carol (Ken) Wojcik, and Victor (Kay) Perez. Additionally, he was a loving uncle and great uncle to many, had numerous cousins who held him dear in their hearts, and found joy in the companionship of his furry grandbabies Rush and Koda Bear.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Damas and Abigail Arteaga; and siblings, Lilia Gonzalez, Angela Villalobos, and Louis Arteaga Sr.
May we find solace in knowing that his spirit lives on in the memories we shared together with him—a beacon of love that will continue to guide us through both our joys and sorrows.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 5:00 p.m. Per Paul's wishes cremation rites will be accorded following services. The family invites relatives and friends to gather at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. where full military honors will be rendered and Paul will be laid to rest.
