Patrick Bazzel, age 57, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Ann Bazzel (nee Rachal); his loving children, Nathaniel Patrick Bazzel and Melissa Ann Ries; his adoring grandchildren, Patrick Ryan Bazzel and Hailey Ann Stark; brothers, Derrick and Eric Bazzel; sisters, Sharon Leigh (John) Miller, Rita Bazzel King, and Regenia (Anthony) Elliott; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and countless friends and neighbors.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and Bobby King; and grandparents, Louie and Mildred Morgan and Leonard and Etrulia King.
Patrick was born in Mobile, Alabama. He migrated to Illinois in 1996 where he began a life with Deborah. Patrick was no stranger to hard work and never shied away from it. His motto was, “If you’re going to do something, make sure you do it right.” Patrick wasn’t much for being the center of attention. He kept quiet and never opened his mouth; but when asked for his opinion, you better believe that he would respond with the truth. This is something that his mother taught him from an early age. Patrick had a big heart, but crossing the line meant that you would have broken that tie with him.
Patrick took great pride in serving his country with the U.S. Army. He enjoyed everything that nature had to offer; fishing, frogging, hunting, golfing, ball playing, go-kart racing, and camping. His humor, wisdom, and what he and his family liked to call “Hillbilly Ingenuity” will be forever missed and his Babydoll will love him forever and ever.
In lieu of flowers, donations made out to The American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
A celebration of Patrick’s life will begin on Saturday, August 11, 2018 with chapel prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 am then driving in procession to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at a later date. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet, IL.
