Olga C. Matesevic (Nee Furiel), age 90, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in her home with her family by her side.
Olga is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Edward Matesevic; beloved children, Diana (Harvey Seaborg) Matesevic, Carolyn (the late Rex) Wilson, Marianne (Bill) Miller, Marlene Matesevic, Frank (Donna Owens) Matesevic and Lenny Matesevic; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Olga Furiel; grandson, Matthew Miller; 6 sisters and 1brother.
Olga was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL. At an early age, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate as a postulant, along with three of her sisters. Olga later married Eddie on May 29, 1948. They had six amazing children together. She was always involved in all of their lives as well as her grandchildren’s lives. Olga was the choir director and longtime organist at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling, going to the casinos, entertaining her family and friends on the piano and designing floral arrangements. Olga always enjoyed learning new things and caring for her husband. She will be truly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Olga’s name may be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice (250 Water Stone Circle Joliet, IL 60435).
A celebration of Olga’s life will begin on Thursday, November 9, 2017 with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church (706 N. Broadway St. Joliet, IL) beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill, IL. There will be no services held at the funeral home.
