Nicholas A. Charletta

Age 96 of Joliet, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022.

Born on September 24, 1926 in Joliet, he was a son of Louis and Lena (Sylvester) Charletta.

Loving and devoted husband of Rosalie (nee Darmata) whom he married on August 20, 1960.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Lena; sister: Dolly (James) Sylvester, and brother: Louis Charletta, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years: Rosalie, and his two beloved daughters: Kimberly A. (the late John) Bennett and Kathy S. Nemec.

Nicholas is a World War II veteran who proudly served his country with the United States Navy. He retired from Sheffield Steel in 1988, working as an overhead crane operator. Nicholas loved his Chicago Cubs and never missed watching a game. He enjoyed playing his harmonica for his family and friends which he treasured immensely. Nicholas will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff, nurses and caregivers at Lightways Hospice Care. Donations in Nicholas’ name to Lightways Hospice are greatly appreciated.

Per Nicholas’ wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Services will be held privately at a later date.
