Nathaniel Charles Searing

“Nate”

Age 25 of Joliet, passed away on Sunday February 9, 2020 at Amita Health Saint Joseph Medical Center.

Born February 19, 1994 in Joliet, Nathaniel Charles is the son of Charles and Marianne (Dziuban) Searing. Nate grew up doing every competitive sport he could, that was his true passion. If you drove past the Searing household you would almost always see him in the side yard, playing catch, throwing a football, working on his swing or even possibly shattering car windows with said ball he was playing with.

An avid Cubs fan. Nate claimed in kindergarten he was going to grow up and play for the Chicago Cubs, one day. Some of his most fond memories are attending games with his old man, listening to the games on Cubs radio in the back yard, watching the games on the television and of course watching them win the World Series, while he sat with his parents at their house. Nate popped a bottle of champagne as soon as Bryant threw to first base. He later drove up to Wrigley Field to pay tribute to our late Grandmother by writing a message on the walls of the friendly confines, she being the reason that his family loves the Chicago Cubs. Nate will be missed for his strategizing of player positions, contracts, and plays of the games with his dad, like they were sitting on the bench with the coaches.

Nate grew up playing soccer at the Joliet Park District, T-Ball at St. Joes Park with his sister, basketball at the YMCA and football with the Raiders. Nate was a natural born athlete and seemed to be great at whatever sport he played and everything he touched. As he continued to grow, he became a part of the first Victory Baseball Team out of Joliet, with his lifelong coaches, his dad and Coach Joe Pluth. Continuing his sports career through grade school at St. Mary Nativity. He later attended Joliet Catholic Academy where he played Varsity Baseball and continued some lifelong friendships all while making some more. He earned All Area Conference Team his Junior and Senior years. His junior year he tossed a 1.10 ERA off the mound and senior year an ERA of 1.34. His coach describing him as “the ultimate competitor and gives you everything he’s got, when he steps out there”. If there wasn’t a better way to describe Nate. It could be said that Nate was an ultimate competitor, in whatever he did in life.

After High School Nate went onto some college but soon realized he would rather attend the school of hard knocks. Nate worked as a laborer in different capacities for the last 6 years. He had just passed the carpenters test and was on his way to an apprenticeship with his union. He was dedicated to his craft and was always trying to better himself. His inability to hang up the mit, Nate joined slow pitch softball through the Park District. Occasionally, the family thought that Nate thought that he was in the MLB of slow pitch because of how dedicated he was to it. He made numerous memories on those fields and countless friends who turned into brothers. If you couldn’t find Nate, check the fields, that’s usually where he was… or the bar.

A lover to Sarah Johnson. His family had never heard Nate talk about marriage, babies or the future until Sarah came into his life. He had never been seen smiling so much either. She mellowed him out, helped him think rationally, and truly helped him to be a better person. The family was so excited to see his big plans come into action with her. He will always love his heifer.

He leaves behind his truest companion, Paisley girl, his yellow lab. Nate bought Pais 6 years ago. He raised her, trained her, ran with her, swam with her, played catch with her and might have somehow passed his insane athleticism onto her. She’s a stud, just like her dad. Paisley cared for him and protected him just like Nate protected all of us. Their bond was absolutely indescribable. Paisley knew when Nate needed a hug. She would jump right up to him, rest her paws on his shoulders and her head on his chest. When you don’t see Pais trotting around the house, usually you can find her sprawled out on Nates bed, waiting for her favorite person to come home.

Nate was so many things to so many people. A son, little brother, big brother. grandson, nephew, cousin, boyfriend, teammate, player, employee, and friend. He was simply amazing. He protected like no other, especially his mom and his sisters. “Baby Boy” was a prevalent name for him in his house, mainly because he had our mom wrapped around his finger.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand, always willing to listen, always able to make you laugh with his impeccable dance moves, facial expressions, and his trademark quote, “What’s up player?”

If you ever had the chance to go out with Nate, you always had a memorable time. So did he, most mornings after he was in complete and utter shock at how much his bank account depleted. But, he didn’t care. He made whoever he was with, he took care of you. That was Nate. He had such a contagious smile and a heartwarming laugh and personality.

He was a hard worker, hilarious, loving, outgoing, fun, and strong man who had a heart of gold. He will be so incredibly missed.
