Moises Perez Maldonado

April 3, 1950 — December 28, 2024

Moisés Maldonado, age 74, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away on December 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. Born in Mexico City, Moisés was the son of Moisés Maldonado Arteaga and Emelia Pérez Luna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jaime, sister Teresa, and granddaughter Amber Diaz.

Moisés leaves behind his beloved wife, Teresa, sister Emelia, and his four children: daughters Mariana (Humberto Salinas), Diana (Pete Micks), Erika Diaz (Rich) and son Eduardo (Claudia). He cherished his grandchildren: Nicholas, Alyssa, Emy, Jonah, and Hunter. He also leaves behind their two beloved pups: Oreo and Chapita.

Moisés was the heart and soul of his family, a hard-working and devoted patriarch who always put his loved ones first. He was a man of integrity, wisdom, and humor. He loved to read, particularly books that expanded his knowledge, and his passion for sports—especially those in which his children and grandchildren participated—was infectious. Moisés could often be found cheering them on from the sidelines, offering words of encouragement, and making memories that will last a lifetime. His love for animals was another enduring part of who he was, always treating them with care and kindness.

He is remembered not only for his devotion to his family, but also for his deep friendships. His sense of loyalty and the stories he shared with those who loved him will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His passing has left a tremendous void in our lives, but his legacy of love, hard work, and generosity will continue to inspire us.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation and chapel service on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cremation will follow in accordance.

A special thanks to the aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who spent countless hours by Moisés’ side, recounting stories of happier times. These moments were invaluable to the family and provided great comfort during his final days. The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the nurses at Silver Cross and Lightways Hospice for their compassionate care.
