Michael D. Powers, age 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Sharoll (nee Beasley) Powers; children, Viki Powers, Vanessa Powers, Andrea (Dustin) Standish, Paul (Samantha) Romero, Alexander Romero and Kristi Romero; grandchildren, Alexxys, Addysen, Alyssa, Rachael, Ian and Amelia; siblings, Lynn Powers, Edward "Eddie" Powers; Virginia Powers, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Charlotte "Dolly" (nee Cirrencione) Powers; brother, Shawn "Buzz" Powers.
Michael was born in Joliet and raised in New Lenox. He enjoyed playing football in high school as well as riding Motocross. He was employed by the City of Joliet, first as a dispatcher for 13 years and retired from public works after an additional 5 years of service. He loved spending time with his daughters, taking them to downtown Chicago to the different museums and various venues to attend concerts. Michael also loved his dogs, hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of Michael's life will begin on Friday, April 10, 2015 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Maple Wood Cemetery in New Lenox.
Following interment, the family would like to invite relatives and friends to gather at River Valley Christian Fellowship, 800 Cardinal Drive, Bourbonnais, IL 60914 for a funeral service to be held at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Derick Miller officiating.
