Michael J. "The Rocker" Mathes
January 15, 1953 — July 27, 2016
Michael J. Mathes "The Rocker," age 63, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from injuries sustained in an accident.
Michael is survived by his loving mother, Angeline Mathes (nee Levanich); dear nephew, Daniel Mathes III; dear sister-in-law, Patricia (the late Daniel II) Mathes; numerous loving cousins; and lifelong friend, Rudy (Bonnie) Janes.
Preceded in death by his father, Everett Mathes; brother, Daniel Mathes II; grandparents, Nicholas and Staka Levanich.
Michael was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. He was a passionate Cubs fan. Michael was also an avid bicyclist. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s name to American Diabetes Association, would be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Salem Village and Joliet Area Community Hospice for the excellent care provided.
A Celebration of Michael’s life will begin on Monday, August 1, 2016 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
