It is with unimaginable pain that we have to say goodbye to Matt Finstrom, age 41 of Plainfield, IL. He was a man that loved life, adored his wife and children and was an amazing son, brother and friend to so many. A truly talented carpenter that could build or fix absolutely anything. He had a sense of humor unmatched by anyone else and a way to play the right music at just the right time. He worked so hard and played just as hard to balance it out.
He was an adrenaline junkie through and through. He loved snowmobiling, camping, hunting, boating and just being outdoors. He shared these passions with all three of his children. He was a skilled cook and spoiled his wife by making every meal without a single complaint. He was a loving father who took that role to heart. He was so proud of his kids and it was fulfilling to him to see them develop an interest in the same things he enjoyed.
Matt and his wife, Jacki, spent their entire relationship working together, building their businesses while creating a family they loved so much. Not many couples can work together every single day and still want to spend all of their free time together, but they could. Matt’s role as a husband was definitely his top priority and it was obvious to anyone that saw them together. That bond will never be broken despite him physically being gone.
Sadly, Matt’s life was cut short doing what he loved most. He was killed instantly in a tragic snowmobile accident in Tomahawk, WI, a place he cherished above all else. He has left behind his devoted wife, Jacki, and their three incredible children: Peyton, Evan and Dylan.
A visitation will be held at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet, on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service celebrating Matt’s life which will begin at 5:00 p.m. At that time, words of remembrance will be shared and times of reflection will be held. After the service, an invitation is extended to guests to plan on joining together at Cemeno’s Pizza, 1630 Essington Road in Joliet, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Per Matt’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
