Mateo Reyes-Ballez Sr.

Mateo Reyes-Ballez Sr., age 61, passed away peacefully at Joliet Area Community Hospice on Sunday, June 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Mateo is survived by his loving wife, Domitila Reyes; son, Mateo Reyes Jr.; mother, Maria Reyes; numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father, Demetrio Reyes; grandfather, Pablo Ballez; grandmother, Cleofas Castillo; numerous aunts and uncles.
Mateo was born in Buenavista, Municipio De Villa Juarez, S.L.P in 1955. He then migrated to Joliet, IL in 1974 where he resided with his family. Mateo was employed at CITGO Petroleum Corporation in Lockport for 41 years. He had a passion for gardening, cooking and hosting parties for his family and friends. Mateo loved spending quality time with his beloved wife and dear son. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Mateo’s life will begin on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
