Mary Amelia Zelko

Age 92. At rest Tuesday January 31, 2012 at Salem Village in Joliet.
Beloved mother of James E. (Rita) Zelko of Elwood, dearest grandmother of Lauren and Molly Zelko, also survived by her special grandsons, Richard and Thomas Metes. Dear aunt of Shirley A. Page; 2 sisters-in-law, Anna (late Joseph E. 2007) Jelinek, and Ann (late Louis J. 1995) Zelko. Mary also has 15 nieces and nephews, 30 great-nieces and nephews and 24 great-great nieces and nephews.
Mary was born in Milwaukee, WI and has resided in Joliet since 1924. She was employed by Al Baskin Company and retired from the Joliet Medical Group Ltd in 1983. Mary was a member of the Jo Ann Seniors Group of St. Mary Nativity Church, Croatian Cultural Club, and the Croatian Fraternal Union of America.
Preceded in death by her dear husband of 45 years, Edwin J. Zelko (1985); her parents, Joseph and Ana (nee Franc) Jelinek, step-father, Nicholas Lenovich; 3 sisters, Anna J. Page (1950), Stephanie H. Metes (1969), and Kathryn L. Feldman (1992) and 3 brothers; Anton (1916) and John (1926), and Joseph E. Jelinek (2007).
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Masses for the deceased or contributions to St. Mary Magdalene Parish Fund, in her name, would be appreciated.
The family would like to extend a special and heart felt thank you to the staff at the Joliet Area Community Hospice for all their care and support.
Funeral services for Mary A. Zelko will be held Friday February 3, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment to St. Mary Nativity Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-9 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to:
