Mary J Strodtman

May 4, 1938 — February 8, 2011

Mary J. Strodtman, age 72, of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at her home with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Francis ""Dennis"" Strodtman, and her children Daniel (Linda) Strodtman of Channahon, and Donna (Mike) Gentile of Elwood, her grandchildren Kathy (Steven) Heg, Nick Strodtman, Kristi and Kevin Gentile. Mary is also survived by five brothers, Cliff Zimmerman of Sioux City, IA, and John (Sandy) Zimmerman, Earl (Karon) Zimmerman, Chuck (Joan) Zimmerman, and Ted (Alice) Zimmerman, all of Sac City, IA; five sisters, Beulah (Wesley) Cole of Sac City, Florence Tatman of Maple Grove, MN, Ruth (James) Mason of Sac City, and June (Kenneth) Janning of Carroll, IA. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Helen Zimmerman, two sisters, Pearl Bettin and Lois Schade; five brothers, Bud Zimmerman, Kenny Zimmerman, Bill Zimmerman, Jack Zimmerman, and James in infancy.

Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who lived for her grandchildren. She was looking forward to the expected arrival of her first great-grandchild Olivia. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed her Tuesday shopping trips with her friend Alice Garland.

Those wishing to leave a lasting tribute in Mary"s name may leave memorial donations to Joliet Area Community Hospice.

A Celebration of Mary"s Life will begin on Saturday, Feb 12, 2011 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel, then in procession to Resurrection Cemetery for an interment service. Visitation will be on Friday, February 11 from 3 ""A�?? 8 PM.
