Mary (Kosir) Maticic

Mary Maticic (nee Kosir), 95, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, July 25, 2022.

Mary was born on August 15th, 1926. She retired from St. Joseph Hospital after 35 years of service. Some of Mary’s hobbies included: bingo, dancing to polka music, garage saling, and picnics at St. Joseph’s Park. Mary was an avid Elvis enthusiast. She enjoyed going to see her favorite Elvis impersonator, Bob West. Mary loved laughing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed always being outdoors, admiring her garden, and taking long walks.

She is survived by her eight, loving children, Mitzi (Frank) Dubrovich, Paul (Lori) Maticic, Olga Maticic, Pete (Cathy) Maticic, Cyril (Janeane) Maticic, Ida (Bob) Olson, Steven (Becky) Maticic, Jimmy Maticic; and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, John Maticic; son, David Maticic; and life-long partner, Joseph “Petey/ Charlie” Ketz.

Mary’s family would like to thank Lightways Hospice for their support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Lightways Hospice Joliet.

A celebration of Mary’s life will begin on Thursday, July 28th, 2022 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home on 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet from 12:00 pm until the time of service to be held at the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet.
