Mae was born on August 20, 1919, the second oldest of nine siblings born to John and Jennie Gregorich. She graduated from St. Joseph"s Catholic Elementary School and Joliet Township High School in Joliet, IL. In Chicago, she continued her studies with post-graduate work in pediatrics at Michael Reese Hospital. Upon leaving the Army, she was employed as an industrial nurse at Argonne National Laboratories in IL, where she met her husband Matthew. Mae was always a loving wife, mother, and devout Catholic who loved the Lord. She was active in the inception of the Catholic Charismatic movement at the University of Notre Dame and in her parish. While in Mobile, she was a member of Our Savior Catholic Church. Mae"s passion to the less fortunate was exhibited by her generosity to several Catholic missions and schools, which included her making rosaries for overseas missions through St. Thomas More Parish in Denver.
