Mary Margaret Kapinus (nee Klen) age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with her loving family by her side.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Mary Ann) of Plainfield, IL, Richard (Sandra) of Diamond, IL, Barbara (Mark) Crittenden of SanDiego, CA and Edwin (Elizabeth) of Marrero, LA. Loving grandmother of Stephen (Michele) of Naperville, IL, Brandon (Victoria) Crittenden of SanDiego, CA, Timothy (Laura) of Springfield, IL, Christina Kapinus of Plainfield, IL, Johnny (Kyley Christie) Crittenden of SanDiego, CA, Lauren (Marcel) Marquette of Metairie, LA, Allison Kapinus of Houston, TX; great-grandmother of Kira Stevens, Jordan Crittenden, Katherine, Ryan, Matthew, and Alex Kapinus, Kensington and Jace Crittenden; one brother John (Bess) Klen of Walnut Creek, CA; and one sister-in-law, Rosann Klen.
Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew E. Kapinus (2008); parents, Julius and Anna (nee Maxon) Klen; brother, Francis J. Klen; and sisters, Ann (Robert) Gosack and Helen (in infancy).
Mary was born in Joliet on April 8, 1921 and attended Ss. Cyril and Methodius and St. Bernard grade schools, and Joliet Township High School. She worked at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant during WWII. Mary and her husband were active members of St. Bernard Church for many years. She was Chairlady of the St. Bernard's Ladies Club for 25 years and taught craft classes to her friends at St. Bernard's. Mary was a life-long homemaker and enjoyed cooking and crafts, an avid crossword puzzle player and enjoyed traveling. Her greatest joy was being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at any time.
Mary was a resident of The Timbers, Shorewood, IL. where she formed many friendships.

A Celebration of Mary's life will begin on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Bernard Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at SS. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 16, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.
