Mary Theresa Jansen
January 29, 1922 — July 27, 2015
Mary Theresa Jansen (nee Toth), age 93, entered into eternal life on Monday, July 27, 2015 with her loving family by her side.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Joyce (Bruce) Liker and Joseph (Tammie) Bardowski; cherished grandchildren, Staci (Eric) Graf and Sarah (James) Kok, Jill Bardowski, and Holly Bardowski; cherished-great grandchildren, Nina Pepper Graf, Jaylyn Kok and Riley Kok; dear brother, Paul (Bonnie) Toth; dear sister, Irene (the late Bing) Miller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by her husband, Norm Jansen; first husband, Joseph Bardowski; daughter, Janice Bardowski; parents, Paul and Julia (nee Guijdan) Toth; sisters, Helen Sapp, Liz Bick, and Julie Haake.
Mary worked with her sisters as a waitress at the Elks Club, Renaissance Center, and Holiday Inn in Joliet. She was born in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to the United States in 1929 when she was 7 years old. Mary was a longtime parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Joliet. She loved cooking and baking. Mary was a very outgoing and social person who treasured spending time with friends and family. She loved her family more than anything in the world. Mary had a Heart of Gold.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to family and friends who provided care, love, and support as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
A Celebration of Mary's life will begin on Thursday, July 30, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.
