Age 96, passed away peacefully, Tuesday May 26, 2009, surrounded by her family. Born in Joliet, October 13, 1912 and a life long resident of Joliet and member of St. Cyril and Methodius Church. Preceded in death by her husband Andrew B. Gerat in 1955, parents Paul and Helen (Baranak); four brothers Joseph Baranak, John Baranak, Paul Macak, Joseph Macak; two sisters Helen Puppel and Anna Iverson. Survived by her loving daughter Lucille Cantu of Joliet and son Kenneth (Antoinette of Manhattan. Seven grandchildren Christine (Richard) Forkal, Thomas (Irma) Cantu, Mary (Tim) Engelman, Gregory (Jennifer) Cantu, David (Jean) Gerat, Ronald Great, Richard Gerat. Eight great grandchildren Jonathan, Jacqueline, Jessica Forkal, Anthony Cantu, Reed, Gwendelyn, Olivia Cantu, Matthew Gerat. Mary always enjoyed a good card game and loved to visit those river boats. She was a strong independent woman who will be missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary"s name to Joliet Area community Hospice would be appreciated.
Where Prayer service will be Friday at 11:00 AM Interment St Cyril and Methodius Cemetery Visitation Friday 9:00 AM until time of service.
