At the age of 88, she passed away peacefully on Wednesday,

April 18, 2007 at home with her family at her bedside. Born in Phelps, WI on June 9, 1918 to John and Mary (nee Laurich) Zbacnik. She lived in Joliet most of her life.

A lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Joliet, she was a member of the Rosarians, St. Joseph Senior Parishioners, Altar and Rosary, CCW, Slovenian Women's Union, Branch #20 and the Holy Family Society of the U.S.A. She served as secretary-treasurer for the Holy Family Society D.S.D., Lodge # 1 for many years.

As a young woman, she enjoyed baseball and played for the Whoopi Ramblers as shortstop. She worked at the Navy Yards in Rockdale during WWII. She also worked at the American Institute of Laundering cleaners for several years.

Loving mother of three children, Carol, Lawrence (Sharon) and Mary Lou (Frank); grandmother of Michael (Linda) Barbic, Susan (Tim deceased) Minott, Joseph (Kathy) Barbic, Mary Golf, Frank (Barbara) Golf III Ann Marie (Mike) Shannon, Tony and Steve Golf; sister of Betty Kolenc (Tony deceased) and eight great-grandchildren, Michael, Madalyn, Grace Barbic, Ryan, Sean, Megan Minott, Cal and Max Barbic; nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by her husband, Louis (1990); parents, John and Mary (nee Laurich) Zbacnik; two sisters, Antoinette (Marion) Scheffler, Caroline (Al) Zelinski; five brothers, Frank (Rose), John, Joseph (Ann), Ludwig (Delores) and Louis (Joan).

From where funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. to St. Joseph Church of Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.
