It is with profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Marvin Frederick Hank Sr., age 86, of Joliet, IL, who left his temporary home to enter his eternal one on Monday, January 20, 2025.
Marvin is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years Jean Patricia Hank (nee Sienko) of Joliet, IL; his two daughters, Janet Cooper of Yorkville, IL and Christine (Brad) Southard of Minooka, IL; daughter-in-law, Robin (the late Marvin Jr.) Hank of Channahon, IL; and sister, Lucille (the late Bill) Edgar.
He was lovingly known as Papa to his grandkids Jill (Nick) Offerman, Sara (Joe) DeLuca, Daniel (Brooke) Cooper, Alyssa (Dan) Brown, Alex and Eric Hank and John and Kelly Hutten. His great-grandkids Lucas, Jalyn and Ryan Offerman, Max, Brody and Brenna DeLuca, Colton, Chase, and baby Cooper, were truly the light of his life. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lillian (nee Fisch) Hank; son Marvin Hank Jr.; and a baby brother, Peter, in infancy.
Marvin was a devoted companion of 70 years to Jean, the love of his life. Together they enjoyed family get togethers, fall color drives, dinners and trips together with family and friends, including his Florida trips with his best friend Billy (Karen) Maslan. After many years of working, he spent his retirement enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, anything outdoors, and supporting the activities of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Piling all eight grandkids on the golf cart at the Area Number 1 Outdoor Club was a great way for him to spend a day.
Marvin was a proud veteran of his country where he served in the United States Army. He loved sharing a long, never short, story where you could enjoy his quick wit and unique storytelling over a cold beer. His greatest accomplishment is fiercely loving his family and imparting his knowledge and deeply held values to those closest to him, including, but not limited to respect and love. He made a lasting impact on those who knew him and he will be missed by many.
The family invites relatives and friends to gather at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 710 W Marion St, Joliet, IL 60436 on Monday, January 27, 2025 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
