Marvin W. Francis

Marvin W. Francis, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 12, 2014.

Marvin is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" (nee Vogen) Francis; children, Daniel (Linda), Douglas J. Sr. (Connie), Diane (William) Wentzel; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Francis; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hattie (nee Lietje) Francis; 6 siblings.

Marvin was born and raised in Iowa. He was in the 146th United States Navy Construction Battalion and served on Okinawa. He was member of the VFW Cantigny Post #367. Marvin was a dairy driver for Crombie's Dairy and Meadow Gold Dairy and was a member of the Teamsters Local #179. He also provided numerous hours of volunteer work for Joliet Band Parents Association and the Ingalls Park United Methodist Church. Marvin loved to sing, write poetry and was a wood craftsman. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.


Funeral services for Marvin were held privately. Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
