Martin Ramiro Martinez, age 22, passed away on December 10, 2017 in his home.
Martin is survived by his mother, Veronica Hernandez; siblings, Marissa Hernandez, Jonessa Hernandez, Jaylah Hernandez; grandmother, Maricela Hernandez; great-grandmother, Herminia (the late David) Hernandez; uncles, Jesse (Sarah) Davis, Eduardo Davis, Hector (Melissa) Martinez, Dino Martinez; aunts, Nina (Marcelo) Esquivel, Maria Hernandez, Nereida Zepeda, Aliana Hernandez, Lilia (the late Victor) Manzo, Veronica (Sergio) Manzo, Adela Martinez; numerous cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his father, Jose Ramiro Martinez; and grandparents, Jose Rosa Martinez and Francisca Sanchez-Martinez; and great-grandfather, David Hernandez.
Some of Martin’s greatest loves included tattooing, graffiti art (where he earned the nickname Vaxor), being involved at his welding school, eating various foods, a fascination with trains, horseback riding at his favorite ranch, and spending time with his loving family. Martin was always the life of the party and always knew how to make you smile. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Martin’s life will begin on Thursday, December 14, 2017 with a prayer service in the funeral home chapel at 9:10 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet, IL. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road – Joliet, IL).
