Marlene (Kennedy) Starasinich

Marlene Starasinich (nee Kennedy), age 86, born into eternal life on Saturday, May 21, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Pontiac, IL and resided in Joliet, IL.

Marlene is survived by her loving children, Deacon Douglas (Christine) Starasinich and Mary (David) Braun; grandchildren, Ashley and Amber Braun; step-grandchildren, Joshua (Ariel) Braun and Elizabeth (Kelley) Parker; three step great-grandchildren, Cameron and Carson Parker and Caiden Braun; sister-in-law, Bernice (Don) Walker; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer Starasinich (2019); parents, Francis Sr. and Myrtle (nee Hamilton) Kennedy; siblings, Francis Jr., Lura Mae, Bonita, Ruth, Dorothea, Kathryn and Harold.

Marlene was a member of the VFW Cantigny Post #367 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Post #1080 Ladies Auxiliary, St. Joseph Seniors, the Rosarians, Altar and Rosary Society, the Catholic Social Club, KSKJ St. Francis Lodge #29 and a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Marlene enjoyed cooking for her family and being outside in the yard tending to her garden. She was a devout catholic and a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Marlene’s life will begin on Friday, May 27, 2022 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
