Marlene Mary Ancel (nee Smith), age 82, entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 31, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.
Marlene is survived by her loving children, Karen (Patrick) Briscoe, Randy (Gabriella) Ancel, Nancy Ancel Mitok, and John (Jodi) Ancel; cherished grandchildren, Michael (Michele) Briscoe, Jeff (Lizzy) Ancel, Christine (Neil) Hodge, Kelley (Chuck) Hill, Jamie Eskridge, John J. Ancel, Jacob Ancel, and Zachary Mitok; cherished great grandchildren, Joey, Caiden, Charlie, Brooke, Jack, Kailen, Chelsea, Abigail, and Crew; dear brother, William (Bernadine) Smith; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; and parents, William and Rose (nee Jaskowiak) Smith.
Marlene worked at Sunny Hill Nursing Home for 10 years in the activity department. She also catered at St. Joseph Park for 23 years with a couple of her closest friends, Dolores Suhadolc and Evelyn Mauro. Marlene was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Will County Seniors, as well as Wednesday and Thursday Seniors at St. Joseph Park. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet and found peace attending mass on Sunday and adoration chapel during weekday afternoons. Marlene enjoyed bowling and attending picnics at St. Joe’s Park. Some of her fondest memories of spending time with family and friends were formed in the backyard of Dick and Jo’s house on Clement St., where music, food, beer, and love were shared. Marlene’s family and friends meant the world to her. Please keep the love she shared with you, forever in your heart.

A Celebration of Marlene’s life will begin on Friday, November 6, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Jeff Smialek officiating. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be Thursday, November 5 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet.
