Mark W. Shiffer

Mark W. Shiffer, age 59, passed away suddenly at his home in Green Bay, WI on Saturday March 5, 2016.

Mark is survived by his two loving sons, Seth Shiffer of Green Bay, WI and Ryan Shiffer of Tuscon, AZ; also his grandson and daily joyful companion, Trenton Shiffer of Green Bay, WI; two brothers, James Shiffer of Hot Springs Village, AR and Donald "Chopper" (Vicki) Shiffer of Joliet, IL; two sisters, Linda Shiffer of EauClaire, WI and Betty (James) Garnett of EauClaire, WI; along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his mother, Betty M. Shiffer of Joliet, IL in 2000; father, Donald H. Shiffer of Joliet, IL in 1983; and his oldest sibling, Joyce L. Shiffer of Joliet, IL in 1965.

Mark was born on January 13, 1957 in Waukegan IL. He moved with his family from Waukegan to Racine, Wisconsin then Milwaukee, Wisconsin and finally ended up in the family's hometown of Joliet, Illinois where after his school years Mark embarked on various occupations in the Chicagoland area while marrying and raising his two sons. Mark finally decided on a career as a chef which is something that he enjoyed very much. In the 1990's Mark found his way to Green Bay, Wisconsin where he would pursue his career. Mark worked at a few upscale restaurants and banquet facilities during his adult life where he helped satisfy the appetites of thousands of people through his skills in the preparation of fine food.

Mark's other passion was spending time with his young grandson, Trent. Every time Mark spoke of Trent and their time together his face beamed with joy and you could see that he was very happy during Trent’s time with him. Mark will be truly missed by his family and friends and it is very sad that he had to leave us at such a young age.

Donations to any of the many heart "RESEARCH" organizations would be appreciated, as Mark was in a constant battle with coronary heart disease for many years.

A Celebration of Mark’s life will begin on Saturday, April 9, 2016 with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service to be held at 3:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435. Per Mark’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
