Marilyn F. Walsh
Age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021 at The Auberge in Naperville.
Born August 4, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Marilyn was a daughter of Robert and Mary (Wordeman) Obermeyer. She was raised and educated in Cincinnati and attended the College of Saint Mary of the Springs in Columbus, Ohio to proudly earn a bachelors in nursing. Marilyn spent her entire working career as a registered nurse, and even after retirement was still driven to help and spent many hours volunteering for hospice.
Marilyn was a devoted catholic and an even more devoted matriarch to her family. Infamous for her kind back rubs and gentle hand massages. Also, the best pen pal a grandchild could hope for. She was the glue of her family, her laugh, her hugs, her kisses, her cooking, her everything will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Nancy Walsh, Bill (Laura) Walsh and Kathleen (Dan) Kolzow; grandchildren: Billy (Kelsey) Walsh, Jackie (Ryan) Rumler, Steven (Alex) Walsh, Christine Walsh, Michael (fiancé Chase) Walsh, Kaitlyn Kolzow, and Jessie (fiancé Shawn) Kolzow; great-grandchildren: Keaton Walsh, Sophia and Nora Rumler, and Finley and Zayla Walsh; siblings: Joann (the late Bob) Rauh, Fr. Bob Obermeyer and Martha (Dick) Seiler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: Bill Walsh who passed away on December 2, 2015 and her parents: Robert and Mary.
Per Marilyn’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish, 4801 Main Street in Downers Grove. A private interment will be held at a later date and Marilyn will be laid to rest with her husband Bill at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Marilyn’s memory to Auberge of Naperville or to Kindred Hospice Group.
