Marilyn L. Johnson (nee Kinsley), age 91, at rest on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.

Marilyn is survived by her loving children, David E. (Beryl) Johnson of Bloomington, MN, Christine M. (Kenneth) Peterson of Shorewood, IL, Michael W. (Christine) Johnson of Joliet, IL; grandchildren, Emmett C. Johnson of St. Paul, MN, Emilie J. (Cory) Robinson of Mayer, MN, Brendan C. Peterson of North Hollywood, CA, and Meghann Dodd of Plano, TX; great-grandchildren, Ella and Brady Robinson of Mayer, MN; step-brother, Anthony "Pro" (Betty) Culik of Plainfield, IL; step-sister, Madeliene Chovan of Joliet, IL

Preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Johnson; her parents, William and Sarah "Marie" (nee Ward) Kinsley; and one brother, William J. Kinsley; step-father, Anton Culik; step-brother, James (Carol) Culik; step-sister, Mary Ann Sievert.

Marilyn was born and raised in Joliet, IL. She was a life-long member and lector at St. Mary Carmelite Church and then became a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Marilyn attended St. Mary Carmelite School and was a 1941 graduate of Providence High School. She was proud of her Irish Heritage and was the Providence St. Patrick's Day Queen in 1941. Marilyn retired from the Sears Roebuck Company after over 20 years of service. After her retirement Marilyn did clerical work at Senior Services Center of Will County. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW Cantigny Post #367 and the American Legion Post #1080. She was a loving, caring and strong woman who will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will begin on Monday, June 8, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2-6 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded.
