Marie V. Palya
January 4, 1927 — April 16, 2016
Marie V. Palya (nee Giermala), age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 with her loving family by her side.
Marie is survived by her children, Michael (Cynthia) Palya and Martin (Jody) Palya; grandchildren, Jason Aaron and Sarah Palya
Preceded in death by her husband Michael Palya; parents, Andrew and Victoria (nee Idziak) Giermala; three sisters, Sophie, Sabina and Emily; and one brother, Henry Giermala.
Marie was born and raised in Joliet and Graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1944. She was a longtime parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Raymond.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s name to the Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.
A celebration of Marie’s life will begin on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to the Cathedral of St. Raymond for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Per Marie’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded following Mass. Interment of cremated remains will be held privately at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
