Marie J. Gulas (nee Juricic)

Age 99 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at The PARC in Joliet.

Born January 5, 1922, Marie Josephine was a daughter of Joseph and Marie (Tomsick) Juricic. She was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Marie was also a member of the Slovenian Women’s Union, Alter and Rosary Society, Senior Lunch Club, and Catholic Women’s League. She worked for and retired from Sears Department Store after 25 years of dedicated service. Marie’s enjoyment is life was sewing and cooking. She loved to do both and did both a lot. She especially enjoyed being with her loving family most. Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her two children: John E. (Elane) Gulas of Oceola, Indiana and Dianne (Robert) Edmondson of Joliet; four grandchildren: Natalie (Matt) Furfaro, John Andrew (Michelle) Gulas , Paul (Christy) Gulas and Jason (Norma) Kite all of Indiana; four great-grandchildren: Isabella and Domenic Furfaro and Troy and Evan Gulas; one sister: Dorothy Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband: John M. Gulas who passed away in 2007, and two brothers: Joseph Juricic, Jr. and Richard Juricic.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A celebration of Marie’s life will continue on Friday, August 27, 2021 with a short visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of closing prayers in the funeral home chapel beginning at 10:30 a.m. The funeral will then process to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow and Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband John at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
