Marian B. (Zelko) Schoener

Marian Barbara Schoener (nee Zelko), age 82, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

Marian is survived by her daughters, Heidi (Scott) Domark and Susie (Mark) Scheuber; granddaughters, Hannah (Jeff) Kazak, Katie (Noemi) Scheuber, Hayley Domark and Maddie Scheuber; and great-granddaughter, Leah Kazak.

Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Mark Schoener; parents, John and Anna (nee Kobe) Zelko; brother, Edmund (Donna) Zelko; and sister, Lillian (Curly) Stefanich.

Marian loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they always brightened up her day. She was a loving and caring mother who always looked after her family. She enjoyed music, playing the organ, playing cards, going to St. Joseph Park and was known to make the best crepes. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Marian was a member of the Slovenian Union of America, KSKJ, and a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the St. Joseph Church Choir. Marian was a lifelong beautician and worked for the Boston Store early in her career.

A celebration of Marian’s life will begin on Saturday, July 30, 2022 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
